Children of British Citizens or Settled Persons
Children may be able to join or remain with their parents in the UK where one or both parents are British citizens, have settled status or Indefinite Leave to Remain, or otherwise hold qualifying immigration permission.
The appropriate route depends on the child’s individual circumstances, including their age, place of birth, nationality, current immigration status and the status of their parents. Different requirements may apply where only one parent is living or settled in the UK, including consideration of parental responsibility and the child’s care arrangements.
For children born in the UK, it is also important to consider whether the child is already a British citizen or may be entitled to register as British, rather than requiring an immigration application.
We can assist with:
Applications for children to join a parent or parents in the UK
Applications for children already living in the UK
Dependant child applications
Applications where one parent is British or settled in the UK
Cases involving sole parental responsibility
Reviewing parental consent and care arrangements
Applications for Indefinite Leave to Remain where eligible
Assessing whether a UK-born child may be British automatically or eligible for registration as a British citizen
Preparing and reviewing the application and supporting evidence
Every child’s circumstances are different. We will review the immigration and nationality position of both the child and their parents, identify the appropriate route and explain the evidence required before proceeding.
